Quadrum Galeria de Arte, Lisbon
A oficina de pintura encarregar-se-à
Curator: Susana Pomba
Exhibition on view from 08/09/2019 up to 24/11/2019
Objects, performances, documentation and graphic material concerning artist collaborations with theatre companies and shows that were performed at São Luiz Municipal Theatre, during the 21st century. The title [The painting workshop will be responsible for the painted parts of the set] is a sentence belonging to another time, redundant but quaint, found in between the pages of an old program. This sentence is used here to question the position in the last decades of artistic creation (many times solitary) within the context of the performing arts (almost always of shared authorship). Where can we find these collaborations? How did they develop? Do we still “paint” the set?
Artists: Vasco Araújo, Bruno Bogarim, João Pedro Vale & Nuno Alexandre Ferreira, Javier Núñez Gasco, Sofia Gonçalves, Tatiana Macedo, Adriana Molder, Pedro Neves Marques, Miguel Palma, Isaque Pinheiro, Júlio Pomar, Ana Pérez-Quiroga, Mariana Silva, Joana Villaverde, among others.
The exhibition is included in the side programme of Teatro São Luíz´s 125 years celebrations.
The exhibition includes two performances presented by Mariana Silva (performer: Joana Manuel) and by Sofia Gonçalves (performer: André e. Teodósio and Patrícia da Silva), on the 14th September 5pm.
